About this service
The primary technology IST uses for server backups is EMC NetWorker (formerly Legato NetWorker), designed to offer departments, system administrators, and faculty a reliable, high-performance, low-cost solution for backing up servers and workstations. NetWorker uses tape backups as long-term storage to ensure reliable backups with exceptional longevity.
Subscription to the NetWorker service requires that a client to be installed on each server that needs to be backed up.
For backups of Microsoft Exchange or SQL Server installations, IST uses Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM).
