How to Disable Chrome Browser Notifications

Tired of those Chrome notifications cluttering your screen? Good news, you can easily turn them off and prevent them from bothering you in the first place. You're in control of which sites can send you notifications. Here's how:

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome.

  2. Select "Settings."

  3. Go to "Privacy and security."

  4. Choose "Site Settings."

  5. Click on "Notifications."

  6. Under "Customized behaviors," find the troublesome site in the "Allowed to send notifications" list.

  7. Click the three dots next to the URL and select "Remove" to stop notifications (you can opt in again later) or choose "Block" to prevent further pop-ups from that site.

Sites that have been blocked will now appear in the "Not allowed to send notifications" section.

 

To prevent sites from asking for notifications:

  1. Repeat steps 1-5.

  2. Choose "Don't allow sites to send notifications."

 

Additionally, Chrome has a "Use quieter messaging" setting that blocks pop-ups and shows a message in the URL bar. Click the bell icon to allow notifications for a site.

To enable quieter messaging:

  1. Follow steps 1-5.

  2. Select "Use quieter messaging."
