Re-imaging a Computer from Eng Computing Image
Boot from USB. This likely requires going into BIOS and changing boot settings in order to boot from USB. If set, the usual BIOS password is 'buzoff'.
After booting, the screen should show a command prompt window that has run `wpeinit.exe`.
Run `vldisk`.
After completion of vldisk, go to the D:, E:, F:, or G: drive to find and run `Reboot.cmd`.
After reboot back into command prompt, go to D: or E: drive and run `1.Windows.10.21H2.UEFI.Install.cmd`.
Login to Windows as `NexusUser` with password `Nex2Rus.2022`.
Change computer name to the name it will be known as in the lab. Go to Settings -> System -> About, then click 'Rename this PC' button.
Look up MAC address from command line using `ipconfig /all`.
Update/create the IPAM record to assign the IP address to the DNS name, with the MAC address.
Wait for DNS to update.
Run Windows Updates.
Settings -> Network & Internet; under the Ethernet connection, click the Properties button. Verify/change the Network profile from Public to Private.
Change the local admin password to `buz0ff!Win102016` for Windows 10 or `buz0ff!Win112023` for Windows 11. Go to Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in options. Select 'Password'. Click the 'Change' button.
If the re-image is due to replacing an existing machine, remove and re-create the entry for the machine. Use a Windows terminal dedicated to administering the CHORUS Windows Domain. See section below on Active Directory -> Adminstering Workstations.
Within MMC, use the "Active Directory Users and Computers" Snap-in.
Open CHORUS.UWATERLOO.CA -> Workstations -> Engineering -> Electrical & Computer Engineering -> Public Access.
Find the desired workstation, then right-click on the workstation and select Delete.
Right-click on the folder for the lab room and select New -> Computer.
Type in the computer name.
Under "User or group:", click the 'Change...' button.
Within the "Enter the object name to select" field, type in "Domain Computers" and click the "Check Names" button. The phrase "Domain Computers" should become underlined to indicate that it has been found.
Click the 'OK' button.
Join the machine to the CHORUS Windows Domain.
Go to Settings -> Accounts -> Access work or school.
Click the 'Connect' button.
Select "Join this device to a local Active Directory domain".
Type in "CHORUS.UWATERLOO.CA" and click 'Next'.
Type in a CHORUS Domain administrator userid and password.
For "Add an account", change the "Account type" to 'Administrator', then click the 'Next' button.
Select to restart the PC immediately.
Upon restart, it should be possible to login to the machine using a standard NEXUS Domain account.
Re-install software packages.
Login to Tuque.
Under 'Computers', click the 'List' button.
Type in the computer name and click the 'OK' button.
Under the 'Installed' column, click the field showing the number of installed packages.
Click the "Select All" button.
Click the 'Reset' button.
