Follow these methods as a guide if you encounter any issues while:

 Opening Adobe applications

Search up and click on the Adobe app of interest, either from the search bar located at your toolbar or by using the keyboard shortcut Windows + “S”.

If Adobe applications are not opening or are freezing, restart the Adobe applications , then open Adobe Creative Cloud first.

 Creating an Adobe account
  1. Open an Adobe app (check the first expandable section “Opening Adobe apps”).

  2. Click Sign in to get the following pop-up window, and click on the link Create an account.

  3. On the next page, choose the Windows icon:

  4. Adobe will open the following window in your web browser. Fill in the information and click on Create account.

  5. On the new page, type in the code sent to your email:

  6. Once the web page has confirmed that your account was created, close this web browser window and return to the Adobe application. You will be signed into your new account.

If Adobe is blocking you from creating an account, try closing the Adobe application and creating your account from Adobe Creative Cloud.
If this still does not work, close all Adobe applications and restart your computer. Then, reopen Adobe Creative Cloud to create your account.

 Signing into an Adobe account
  1. Open an Adobe app (check the first expandable section “Opening Adobe apps”).

  2. Click Sign in to get the following pop-up window:

  3. Sign in through this window. Note that if you are to sign in via the university portal, you must click on the blue link “View more”. Then, pick “Continue with Microsoft”:

    1. Directly typing your email in the text field under “Email address” or clicking “Continue with Google” will also work with your Uwaterloo email.

If Adobe does not recognize your account, you may have to create an account or find your account.


Adobe applications are not opening

Closing Adobe Applications

  1. Open Task Manager: right-click the toolbar to open.

  2. In the search bar at the top of the Task Manager window, search “Adobe”.

  3. For each listed program, right-click the program name, then click End task.

If you have files opened in these Adobe applications, be sure to save the files before clicking End Task.

Opening Adobe Creative Cloud

  1. Open Adobe Creative Cloud FIRST by searching it from the search bar or using the keyboard shortcut Windows + “S”.

  2. Sign in or create an Adobe account in Creative Cloud.

  3. Now open the Adobe applications you need.

Restarting your computer

  1. If Adobe applications are still not opening, stop all Adobe processes again.

  2. Restart your computer by pressing and holding the power button.

  3. Once the computer has rebooted, open Adobe Creative Cloud and sign into/create your account if needed.

  4. Open the Adobe applications you need.



Adobe does not recognize the account

  1. Open an Adobe app (check the first expandable section “Opening Adobe apps”).

  2. Click Sign in to get the following pop-up window, and click on the link Get help signing in.

  3. Then, click on the option to Find your account.

  4. Type in your uwaterloo email (ex. watiam@uwaterloo.ca) into the field. Then, click Continue.

  5. Adobe will find the account email that is associated with your information. Copy the email address provided.

  6. Press Continue.

  7. Now, sign into Adobe using the email you copied.
