Bypassing Fast Boot

Machines from the labs may have been setup with Fast Boot. This prevents you from entering BIOS settings.

  • Ensure that the computer is not connected to the network (Ethernet). The computer may attempt to use its old IP address, which would cause a conflict with a machine using that IP address now.

  • Boot the computer. Allow it to fully boot. The power button and the border should light up with blue light.

  • Power down the machine by pressing and holding the power button. Hold the power button until the power button light turns orange. It should take about three seconds.
