This article is intended for students in iClicker Polling, Quizzing, and Attendance courses. If you are using the iClicker student app to check in for Attendance only, please visit the help article here.

You'll automatically receive a two-week free trial as soon as you create your account in the iClicker student app (formerly known as iClicker Reef). Please check with your instructor to ensure that they are allowing the iClicker student app to be used on mobile devices, tablets, or laptops in their classes before you purchase a subscription or obtain an access code.

Create an iClicker Student account

If you have already created your iClicker student account, do not create a new account. Instead, check that the email and WatIAM ID listed in iClicker match your UW information. Refer to How to Edit Your iClicker Student App profile if required.

Step-by-step guide

  1. You can create your account by downloading the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play, or by visiting the iClicker student web app. Select Sign Up!

  2. Search for and select University of Waterloo.

    Click Next.

  3. Enter your information and click Next.
    Enter your First and Last Name as they appear in LEARN, and use your UW email that you log into LEARN with.
    To ensure you receive your full iClicker points in your instructor’s gradebook, enter your WatIAM userid where shown (the first part of your UW email before the @ symbol).
    Check the box to agree to the privacy notice and terms of use.

  4. Create and confirm your Password, making sure that it meets all password requirements. Then select Create Account.

Register your remote ID

If you plan to use an iClicker remote to participate in a class where your instructor is using iClicker Cloud and allows students to participate with physical remotes, you must register your remote in your iClicker student account. Please follow the steps to register your remote ID.

Joining your instructor’s course

Many of our instructors at UW will link their iClicker Cloud course with the LEARN course they are teaching. In this case, their iClicker class will automatically appear in your account when they sync the Classlist from LEARN.

If your instructor is not syncing the LEARN Classlist directly, you can add your instructor's course to your list.

Purchasing options for the iClicker student app

For students with a physical iClicker remote, if you are the first person to register a new iClicker remote, you will automatically activate a five-year iClicker student app subscription in your account.

UWaterloo has an eight-month subscription you can purchase through the W Store. Please see this document for instructions on how to obtain this subscription.

iClicker classes that require your location

If your instructor has informed you that they will be using the location on your device to ensure that you are in class when participating, it is your responsibility to ensure you are using a device that can accurately track your location.
