4 Days until Sourcing Conclusion!!

18 Days until First Draft CAD Due!!!

Goals

  • Review prototyping data & research to determine how to proceed for our final design

Discussion

  1. CF tubes thoughts
    • Consider skinny chassis with more mounting → get more info first
    • Compare CF suspension VS aluminum body → will our suspension be too heavy?

  1. Differential bar VS differential gearbox decision
    • Continue with bar
    • Keep in mind for stiffness we want a low CoG, the distance between mounting points
  2. Discuss methods of increasing the suspension's stability and its alignment to the rest of the rover
  3. Review motor options
    • Nanotechs, prefer shorter length
  4. Review motor layout
    • Proceed with motor integration into wheels?
    • Combined bogie motors? 6 motors → 4 motors
  5. Review wheel layout?
    • Reference prototype geometry in terms of layout

Additional Tasks

  • Old rover diassembly
  • Read documentation and analysis papers of rocker-bogie projects
    • Emily
  • Carbon fibre bonding, figure out tolerance and prototyping
    • Asha
  • Learn FEA
  • Learn SolidWorks simulation?
  • Investigate and prototype tread styles
  • Continue custom wheel research

Action Items

Emily Adam (Differential bar)

  • Final day of prototype testing
  • Went through testing data and selected motor candidates
  • Finalize motor candidates → prepare to buy
    • Look at VPs and axial loading
    • Look into rolling torque
amillsem@uwaterloo.ca (Wheel connections)
  • Got ANSYS working for myself and Andrew
  • Verify tube
  • Contact composites Canada
  • Weight comparison, CF vs extrusion
