Install and Use Cisco Secure Client VPN

Windows
Log into the UW VPN website with your WatIAM user ID credentials (username and password).
For the 2nd Password field, enter push to send a push notification to the DUO mobile app on your phone.Click the installation for your operating system (e.g., Download for Windows) and open the file when it has finished downloading.
Cisco Secure Client Setup pop up will appear.
Click Next.
Click I agree to the terms in the License Agreement.
Click Next.
Click Install.
Once installation is complete, click Finish.
Click the Start button and search for Cisco Secure Client.
Specify the VPN server: cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca.
Click Connect.
In the window that opens, change the Group drop-down to UW-General-Campus.
Enter your WatIAM user ID credentials (username and password).
For the 2nd Password field, enter push to send a push notification to the DUO mobile app on your phone.Click OK.
You should now be connected, you can double-check that you are by:
Click the up arrow in your task bars right side to show hidden icons.
Hover over the Cisco Secure Client taskbar icon to see if you are connected.
Mac
Log into the UW VPN website with your WatIAM user ID credentials (username and password).
For the 2nd Password field, enter push to send a push notification to the DUO mobile app on your phone.Click the installation for your operating system (e.g., Download for MacOS).
Double-click the package downloaded to run the installer.
Cisco Secure Client window will pop up to install the package and will require you to accept the Cisco software license.
Click Finish.
Open Cisco Secure Client.
Specify the VPN server: cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca.
Click Connect.
Enter your WatIAM user ID credentials (username and password).
For the 2nd Password field, enter push to send a push notification to the DUO mobile app on your phone.Click OK.
When the client is active, the VPN connection can be controlled from the Menu Bar icon:
