How to request an account 

are they separate/different accounts in SV?

Returning Officers (RO) need to request a Simply Voting account for their vote via the IST Jira Help portal.

Types of accounts

There are two types of accounts that could be requested: (are they requested by the RO? are they requested at the time of the creation of the SV account? will they need a new account for each vote?)

Returning Officers

The Returning Officers account will have access to create/manage votes. They will be set up as a user in Simply Voting and are assigned to a usergroup(s) and assigned full access. I don’t understand this. Who assigns them to a usergroup? Is this specified in the form they complete to request their SV account? what happens if someone is a RO for one election and a voter in another election? Will they be in separate usergroups?

Results access

The Results access account gives a user permission to view results for a specific vote.

Simply Voting usergroups

Usergroups allow control over which users can access which elections.

A user can be assigned to one or more usergroups. within one election? in multiple elections at once?

When a Returning Officer creates an election, they will need to assign the election to a usergroup. Users/participants are added to a usergroup so that only members of that assigned usergroup will be able to access that election.

We recommend creating usergroups for vote types with the same Returning Officers rather than departments!

Logging into Simply Voting

To create/manage votes:

Users log in to Simply Voting using their UWaterloo credentials (ie. 8-character UWaterloo username and password) and two-factor authentication (2Fa) at https://uwaterloo.simplyvoting.com/manage do they need username@uwaterloo.ca or just username?

To vote:

Voters will navigate to http://uwaterloo.simplyvoting.com and log in with their UWaterloo credentials (ie. 8-character UWaterloo username and password) and two-factor authentication (2Fa) at https://uwaterloo.simplyvoting.com/manage do they need username@uwaterloo.ca or just username?

Once logged in, the voter will see the current ballots that they have access to and can vote in. (can we change ballots to election?)

How to request the removal of an account  

Returning Officers should request the removal of accounts (RO accounts and Results access accounts) that should no longer have access to votes/results via the IST Jira Help portal.
