This article only applies to users with a Skype for Business phone extension. Skype for Business phone extensions will start with the number 4.
Search for a user name
In Skype for Business, click the contact tab or the dial pad tab and type the user's name into the search bar.
- Right-click on the user's profile click Call and choose the option you want to use to call them.
Search for a phone number + extension
Some users won't appear as they might not have their extension set up with their Skype profile
- In Skype for Business, type the UW phone number + extension formatted as 519-888-4567 x##### (Note: You must include the dashes in the number).
- Right-click on the user's profile click Call and choose the option you want to use to call them.
Call through the dial pad (External Contacts)
- Click the dial pad button in the top ribbon, dial the number, and click the Call button. You can treat this dial pad like a regular phone, this is the way you would call contacts outside UW.
