The following error message can appear when a user attempts to sign into Microsoft Teams: “We couldn’t sign you in. Please try again”. Typically, this error does not affect the users ability to sign into other Microsoft 365 apps such as Outlook and Word.

This error message is caused by an incorrect time setting on the device (i.e. computer, phone). To resolve this error, follow the step-by-step guide below based on the operating system (OS) of your device.

Step-by-step guide

Windows 10:

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Time & language > Date & time

2. Turn the set the time automatically and set time zone automatically options on

Mac OS:

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu Image Modified > System Preferences, then click Date & Time.

  2. Click Date & Time, select “Set date and time automatically,” then choose the network time server for your region.

  3. Click Time Zone, select “Set time zone automatically using current location.”
