Note: A Description of content must be brief and concise description of the item’s page’s content. No more than one or two sentences are recommended.
The Description of content is the information blurb which appears when the Service is shared or searched.

The Associated image functions as a thumbnail when sharing a Service in social networks and other services.

  1. Locate Associated image under Meta tag information for social media sharing/search/etc.

  2. Select Add media.

  3. Add an image or select an image previously uploaded to your site. To add an image:

    1. Select Browse... in the Add file box and choose an image from your files.

    2. Fill in the mandatory Name field (it will default to the original file name) and Alternative text field (guidelines can be found on the Brand page) field. You have the option of entering a caption to be displayed with the image in the Caption field.

  4. Select Save.

  5. If not already selected, select the image by checking its box from the image gallery.

  6. Select Insert selected.

titleService details

The Service details drop-down menu allows you to add a variety of details about the Service offered.

  1. You can enter a Popularity rating from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest)

  2. You can select checkboxes to determine Who can use this service.

  3. Under What's available, you can enter specific services that are available. Select Add another item to add more items that are being offered.

  4. You can add information on How to request this service.

  5. You can enter the Minimum notice to use service.

  6. You can enter the Average length of time to complete request.

  7. You can enter a Pricing/cost for the service.

Note: “Free” can be entered in this field to display that the Service has no cost, however is nothing is entered in this field the cost will not automatically display as free.

  1. You can enter information about Support for this service.

titleService hours and exceptions

Under the Service hours drop-down menu, you have the option to enter values in the Service hours field and Exceptions to the regular Service hours.

  1. By selecting the Add time slot button, users can add another row of hours (e.g., if the service is closed over lunchtime).

  2. Exceptions can be added by selecting the Add exception button (e.g., to accommodate for holidays).

The Service location block lets you choose the location address and location coordinates.

  1. The map will default to the University of Waterloo if the latitude and longitude are set to zero.

  2. Optionally, a link to a map with the Service location can be entered in the Map field.

Note: You can optionally select the Service location on the map in this section, but it will not auto-fill the location address.

titleMenu settings

The Menu settings drop down allows you to change whether the Catalog item Service appears in the menu and how it appears:

Checking Place in site hierarchy box enables you configure how your Catalog item Service appears in the menu.

  • Checking the Add menu link box will add your Catalog item Service to the main menu.

  • The Menu link title field allows you to edit the Catalog item Service title in the main menu.

Note: The title in the Menu link title field can be different from your Catalog item Name Service name.

  • The Description field allows you to add a description that will show when hovering over the menu link.

  • The Parent link drop down allows you to choose where in the menu your item occurs.

Note: By default, the Parent link is set to Main navigation.

  • The Weight field allows you to choose the order that your menu items are displayed.

Note: Lower weights display before higher weights.

Scheduling options allows you to select a date and time to change the Revision state of your Catalog item Service.

Publish on allows you to select a date that the page will publish.

URL redirects allows you to add a URL redirect to your Catalog item Service.

titleURL alias

The Catalog item Service automatically generates a URL based on the item Name Service name and its place in the site hierarchy. It is best practice to select Generate automatic URL alias for uniformity across your site. To create a custom alias:

  1. Unselect the Generate automatic URL alias box.

  2. Manually enter a new URL alias.

Note: Do not add a trailing backslash (/) to the alias. Replace any spaces with a dash (-). When entering a custom URL make sure it is still reflective of the content that it will be displaying.

titleAuthoring information

Authoring information allows you to change the author information for the Catalog item Service. Authoring information defaults to the user who created the page and when the item was created originally.

  • Filling out the Authored by field allows you to select a user to be displayed as the page author.

  • The Authored on allows you to manually sets the date and time the page was created.
