This troubleshooting guide addresses common issues preventing users from seeing the Eduroam Wi-Fi network on their devices. Whether you're a student, faculty member, or visitor trying to connect, this article provides step-by-step solutions to resolve connectivity issues effectively.

The Problem

After the replacement of Aruba Access Points (AP) with new Cisco APs (Supporting Wi-Fi 6), some users may not see Eduroam as an available Wi-Fi Network. This issue is due to intel drivers.

Therefore, this causes users not to be able to connect to any campus Wi-fi. In some cases, users may see other UWaterloo PSK networks such as 'UniversityOfWaterloo' however, they will not see Eduroam.

The Solution

The solution is to update the Intel drivers. Please see this article from Intel for more information on this issue.

To find out the name and version of the network driver:
1. In Windows search, type in "Device manager"
2. Network adapters > Look for an entry with wireless/wifi in it, that would be the wireless driver
3. Right-click on it > Properties > Driver > Driver version
