Each widget will need to be configured in order to display on the homepage. For each widget, you will need to determine:

the weight; where it is displayed in relation to other widgets
Additional configuration consists of entering a title and/or introduction/description for the widget, which will also display on the homepage.
An enabled widget will be populated with content from its respective content type.

Widget weights
Numbers, or weights, are used to arrange widgets on the homepage. Each widget will require a unique number in order for the widgets to display in a top-to-bottom layout, one widget per line.
Widgets with Full width layout:
Selecting a Full width layout for a widget means that widget will occupy the entire width of the homepage.
The lowest weighted widget will appear at the very top of the page, beneath the homepage banner. Example: a widget with a weight of "0" will sit at the top of the homepage; but a widget with a weight of "-10" will sit above the widget weighted at "0".
The highest weighted widget will appear at the very bottom of the page, above the site footer. Example: a widget with a weight of "100" will sit at the bottom of the homepage; but a widget with a weight of "110" will sit below the widget weighted at "100".
Widgets with Half width layout:
Selecting a Half width layout for a widget means the widget will occupy only half of the homepage width. This means that two widgets, each with a half width layout, can sit side-by-side on the homepage.
Two widgets that are to sit side-by-side on the homepage will each need to have their layout set to "Half width", and the same weight assigned to them, i.e., both weighted at "50".
Note: Widget weights can be set to any whole number (i.e. -15, 0, 3) but best practice is to begin with larger integers (i.e. -10, 0, 10) so that you will not need to reset the weights if more widgets are added later.
