2021-06-22 - End Effector Design Review (With Robert Cory Molloy)

Feedback:

  • Look at shigley's for equations of force for lead screws to determine the backdrive force
  • Settle for your spring size, but make sure you can get a few different forces to test out
  • Do load bearing calcs on the pins that will be loaded the most
  • Just do spot welds for the gripper tips
  • Discuss how the gripper tips will be jigged up for the weld with the manufacturer
  • Look at misumi for the lead screw to see if they have standard lead screws we could use
  • Double check your torque and bending stresses for the gears
  • Design gears for surface durability
  • Use the Fictiv money to make parts
  • The gripper material might be super itterative. 3D print the gripper tip to test out many different materials. Any sort of uretane is solid. If you want something pretty flexible go with sorbethane.
  • look into making the nut holder cheaper
  • 1 milled component to attach the end effector
  • The spacers should be as close as possible to OTS components
  • Zip ties on the motor to secure it
  • Try to get adhesive backed material for the gripper tips (potentially using rivets)
  • Do FEA for stall motor strength
