Feeedback:

  • With constraints and criteria, constraints are if a certain solution doesn't meet the constraint it is discarded, while the criteria are elements that influence the design, such as grip width.
  • Use a D shaft when you use a set screw
  • L bracket to mount the motor instead of friction using 3D printed parts. (use stock L bracket, 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch thick)
  • chamfers on front and back milled components are unneded, remove if machined in house, can be left if sponsored by Demtool
  • Look into overseas manufacturers:
    • Rapid Cut
    • greatjump technologies
    • elite intelligent manufacturing
  • Replace Nut carrier by 2 sandwiched parts?
  • Add a set screw or dowel pin to the nut carrier with a blind hole in the bronze nut to secure the nut
  • Welding tends to be relatively expensive
  • Could you replace some parts with 3D printed parts to reduce weight?
  • If rubber pads don't work, you can always go to a bolted connection
  • Change Z sheet metal parts to milled or cnc if they don't work as sheet metal
  • Calculate forces seen by the springs
  • Think about sizing for smaller grasp width in a future iteration
  • Ensure that the spacing for the clevis pin is accurate and taken into account for to make sure that the assembly is tight. Maybe use belleville washers or stack wave disk springs
