How to Edit a Signed PDF Form in Adobe Acrobat
Introduction: If you've completed a PDF form, signed, and saved it in Adobe Acrobat, and now need to make further edits, you might encounter locked form fields. To resolve this, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the PDF Document
Launch Adobe Acrobat and open the PDF form that needs editing.
Step 2: Access the "Prepare Form" Tool
You can find the "Prepare Form" tool in one of two ways:
Go to the "Tools" tab at the top of Adobe Acrobat.
Alternatively, access it from the Tools panel located on the right side of Adobe Acrobat.
Step 3: Select Form Fields for Editing
Identify the form field(s) you need to edit and select them. To choose multiple fields for editing simultaneously, hold down the "Ctrl" key (Windows) or the "Command" key (Mac).
Step 4: Open Form Field Properties
To access the form field properties, either double-click the field or right-click on it and select "Properties."
Step 5: Unlock the Form Fields
In the properties window, uncheck the "Locked" and "Read Only" checkboxes. This will enable you to edit the form fields.
Step 6: Finalize Changes
After unlocking the form fields, re-check the "Locked" checkbox and select "Close."
Step 7: Preview and Save
Click the "Preview" button located at the top-right corner of Adobe Acrobat. Ensure the changes are correct. If everything looks good, click "Close." If you need further edits, click "Edit" to continue.
Step 8: Save and Close the Document
Finally, save your changes and close the PDF document.
