Before you login to Waterloo LEARN, perform a system check to ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements. A system check ensures that you have the appropriate:
course required plug-ins, including JavaScript,
web browser version,
web browser settings,
display settings.
See the System and Software Requirement Page to run a system check.
If your system doesn't pass a component of the check, it is recommend that you update your computer or browser before proceeding to use LEARN.
To log into LEARN, use this URL: https://learn.uwaterloo.ca
Your login credentials are the same ones you use to access Quest. Enter your username@uwaterloo.ca and click the Next button.
Enter your case-sensitive password and click Sign in.
The two-factor authentication (2FA) window may open. Authenticate using your preferred method. For additional information regarding DUO 2FA see two-factor authentication.
Click on your name in the top right-hand corner of LEARN and select Log Out to end your current session.
Your login credentials are the same ones you use to access Quest. If you have forgotten your password please visit the Forgotten password link on the WatIAM homepage or, contact the IST Service Desk at helpdesk@uwaterloo.ca for assistance.
Courses are made available to students on the first day of classes. Access to courses from the previous term will be disabled on that day as well.
Some instructors may ask that a course be opened early and in that case, your instructor will likely send the class an email to let you know that this has occurred.
There can be up to a 48-hour delay before courses appear on LEARN while the Registrar's Office updates its records.
The system will timeout as a result of inactivity after 90 minutes.
Keep in mind that you may also lose connectivity to LEARN as a result of an interruption of service from your Internet service provider separate from a timeout of the LEARN system.
From the Connect menu on the course navigation bar, select Classlist.
Search for the user(s) you wish to email (e.g., your instructor or TA), then select the checkbox beside their name.
Select the Email option.
Include a subject, compose the message and add any attachments. Click the Send button.
