Selection Process

Metal extrusions are able to handle large weights, and their modular design makes them ideal for prototyping. There are a few factors also can be used to help decide which aluminum extrusion to purchase.

  1. Select a rail width and height
    1. If a drilled hole is needed, the width and height will need to be greater to accommodate it
    2. If the load is significant, it would be preferable to use a rail that has a greater width and height so the weight is distributed more.
  2. Select a length
  3. Select a type
    1. For modular projects, the T-slotted profit is great and a series of fasteners and connectors can be used.
