The platform authenticator method involves your computer or an external device for authentication.
By enrolling in a platform authenticator, you must be using your device with the platform authenticator or you will not be able to authenticate.
Warning: It is recommended you add another 2FA method besides the platform authenticator, so you do not get locked out and are unable to access your account.
You can enroll in a platform authenticator via
laptop device (Windows Hello)
Google Password Manager
iCloud Keychain (Apple device)
Enrolling
Visit Device management
Authenticate with your 8-character username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca) and password
Select Add a device
For laptop device or Google Password Manager method, select Windows Hello. For iCloud Keychain or U2F token (security key) option, select Security Key.
