 Arm

Motor + Motor Driver Spec

Alex Szabo

Task Description

Need for project: For our arm, we have 6 axes + and a gripper at the end. The mech team has given motor requirements for the arm, so it is your role to determine if the current motors we have meet the specs given by mech, what motor drivers we can use and test the amount of torque these motors can handle.

Goal: Determine if the current motors + Odrives work. If they do not find new motor drivers, test them and iterate until we find suitable motors and motor drivers for our needs.

Requirements:

  • Must have motors and motor drivers that meet the specs mech has given
  • The test must be conducted appropriately to determine max torque ratings a motor can handle
  • The final selection of motors + motors drivers must be complete with motor controls with CAN being tested

Communication

Communication must be proactive. The subteam lead will check in with you at least once a week to get a progress report update, but it is very important that when a roadblock occurs, you reach out for help and update Monday with a blocked or stuck status.

Blocked: for tasks that have dependencies on other projects that have not been completed yet

Stuck: you are unable to get something working.
