This should go through step by step of what each setting is for

If we increase the limit to scheduling we could get less rejects, as it’ll try move scheduling moves to find a solution. We could try increasing it to 7, however if we run it in batches anyway it might not be worth it as it will take longer to run.

Student Assigner settings:

Back tracking options:

  • The lower the back tracking level the faster it’s going to run, however the more rejects you will potentially get.

  • The higher the number the longer it will take to run as it’s looking for more options and is trying more solutions, but there could potentially be less errors.

Request Priority:

Rank has a higher weight than the Weight. The number 1 rank has the highest weigh, and the number 3 would have lower than 1. Those are looked at more than the Weight number. If they all have the same rank then it will look at the Weight.

Course Characteristics:

Any or All. If there’s a request with two course characteristics, does the student meet all the characteristics? We select Any, but it doesn’t really matter if we also choose All. Since we are the ones dictating where the course characteristics get attached and if they are for an actual group, we should have Any selected.
