Question 1:

What is the difference between using and not using a battery management system(BMS)?

A normal battery consists of a set of smaller battery cells connected in serial. Each of the battery cells are having different capabilities after being manufactured. Therefore, it is crucial to use BMS to provide battery protection, optimize battery life, and control the battery temperature. When charging the battery please REMEMBER to connect the battery to the board with multiple pins. This BMS board, provided by most battery chargers, helps monitor each cell’s state and control the full process of charging. Without using BMS will expose the battery to a sudden change of load conditions and damage the battery cells. This will definitely reduce the overall lifetime of the battery and might also cause battery fire.

Question 2:

What is the safe way to charge the battery?

First, do not touch the metal connector during the charging. Make sure the charger power is not on when hooking up the cable.

Second, Please follow all the safety instructions for charging a battery and make sure there are always people nearby during the charging. Be Careful, The 48v battery might kill the person.

Thirdly, Please make sure the charger has BMS functionality provided and then charge the battery. Do not directly charge the lipo battery to a charger, it will definitely reduce its lifetime.

Question 3:

What is the most convenient way to charge thebatteryr?

Using a connector solution.

The key idea is to power off when hooking up the wire and to make sure that the connector is not visible to the user. Detailed solution is under discussion.

Question 4:
