The Project Management Office (PMO) within IST serves as a focal point for and provides leadership and stewardship for a number of several key practices related to portfolio, project and program management. We accomplish this by providing resources and expertise to groups within IST and the broader campus community.

• Request a project manager to manage your project (IT or non-IT projects)

• Request a project manager to provide consultation towards your project or mentorship for somebody learning to manage projects

• Find or request training, education, and knowledge-sharing opportunities for staff, faculty, or students through the PMO’s IT Professional Development (ITPD) courses, customized training based on special requests, or the Project & Portfolio Management Community of Practice (https://uwaterloo.ca/ist-project-management-office/knowledge-sharing )

• Request a project manager to perform a project health check to provide a set of recommendations, based on best practices, to consider for your own project (https://uwaterloo.ca/ist-project-management-office/methodologies/health-checks )

• Use the PMO’s methodology, consisting of a library of tools, techniques, and tips for managing projects (https://uwaterloo.ca/ist-project-management-office/methodologies )

• Submit a project/initiative to be added to the IST portfolio

• Ask a question related to project management or the various certifications, such as the Project Management Professional (PMP)

• Learn more about project software options, such as Jira, for your projects

• Book project space for your team to work
