A prompt will appear asking you to sign in. Sign in using your WatIAM credentials.

It does not require using the campus VPN (it’s in the MS cloud). It looks like this:

Single click ArtsPool1 or ArtsPool2 and eventually you’ll be presented with a prompt for credentials that looks like this:

Eventually, you’ll be logged in a ‘tab’ that has a full Windows 10 desktop.

Users need to sign out of the "Arts Desktop" when they are done using it.

  2. In the Windows Virtual Desktop (AVD) Remote App Portal you will see the Arts_AVD virtual desktop and UW_Apps RemoteApps:

  1. Select the desired virtual lab icon by double clicking.

    You will receive a prompt to access local resources (clipboard, printer, and microphone). Click

    Allow.

  3. Enter your 8-character username @uwaterloo.ca, if this field is not already populated and your password. Click Submit.

  4. You will see a Connecting and launching message.

The full virtual desktop will now display on your screen.

It may take longer to load the AVD full desktop the first time you use it. It will create your initial profile.

5. OneDrive starts automatically. If this is the first time you are accessing AVD, you need to initialize OneDrive.

6. Sign out of the full desktop the same way as you logout of windows normally.

3. You will be redirected to a series of prompts showing you how to use OneDrive

4. Click Next until you have reached the last prompt. Click "Open my OneDrive folder" and you will be redirected to your OneDrive

Now your OneDrive is connected.

  1. First you will need to connect to your OneDrive through portal.office.com 

  2. Open SPSS and open a file

  3. On the Open Data window, click the Look in: drop-down menu. In the drop-down menu, find and select One Drive – University of Waterloo

  2. OneDrive is configured to start at the login to the first RemoteApp, KFM folders are redirected to OneDrive.

You can see ‘This PC\Documents’ is indeed your OneDrive\Documents folder.

4. Again, if this is the first time you login to UW_Apps RemoteApp, you will probably need to initialize your OneDrive.

5. To open other RemoteApps, go back to ‘All Resources’ and double-click on other apps.

titleInitializing your OneDrive account

The first time you run AVD full desktop or one of the RemoteApps, you will need to initialize your OneDrive account, follow the instructions below:

  1. OneDrive application should start automatically.

  3. Just click on ‘Next’ to accept the default settings.
