RX Cheat Sheet

  1. Log in to Accuro and navigate to the Patient.

  2. The prescription module is integrated into Accuro EMR and can be accessed in several ways:

    1. EMR → Encounter Notes → Active Medications → Green + for New / Yellow star to prescribe from favorites / Pencil to renew or edit.

    4. Shortcut Buttons

      1. Quick New Patient Actions – CTRL F10 or Edit RX quick button.

  3. No matter how you access the module, the steps are the same and start with drug search.

Once a medication is selected, Accuro will display the medication, strength, generic name and DIN #. There are several required fields you must complete.

  1. Press the green plus to bring up the dosing detail window.

  1. Enter the number of tablets.

    1. eg. 1.

  2. The second number is only used if prescribing a range of pills.

    1. eg. take-12 tabs otherwise leave as zero.

  3. Click the drop down to select frequency.

    1. eg. BID or q 4 hours, enter duration in days, weeks or months.

  4. Based on the details entered, Accuro will calculate the quantity for you (you can edit this number).

  2. Anything added here will print on the prescription.

  3. Comments are only for internal notes.

titleAdd Additional Medications
  1. Press the green plus on the left side of the RX window before pressing OK.

  1. This will bring up the search window and repeat starting at step 1.

  2. The second icon – blue paper – will print up the patients medical list and allow you to renew additional medications.

  3. Red X will remove medication from the list.

  4. Allergies display in the lower left corner.

  5. Interaction warnings also appear here.

  6. Pop-up warning message will appear before finalizing prescription.

Generate the Prescription

  1. Press OK to complete the prescription.

  2. Accuro will display a preview so that you can review before finalizing.

  3. If you need to make a change press BACK to get back to the Rx details.

  4. Press:

    1. Print to print out the prescription.

    2. Fax to fax directly to the pharmacy.

    3. Close to add the medication to the patient chart without printing or faxing.

  1. Right click on any medication, or hold down the ctrl key and click to select multiple medications to print / renew / discontinue.

  1. Pencil will bring up a list of patients meds.

  2. Right click will bring up the following options.

  3. To change multiple meds, CRTL + Click to select.

titleVarying Dose
  1. Click the green plus again to vary the dosage over the course of the medication.

    1. Eg. where a patient may need to be weaned off a drug such as steroids.

  2. Click the Add button in the Dosages & Options section again.

  3. Select if drug you are adding is to be concurrent or not.

    1. The prompt is to select either Non-concurrent (THEN) or Concurrent (AND).

  4. Click OK.
