What are Function Generators?

A function generator is a test equipment that is able to generate signals in the form of waveforms. They are able to produce sine wavessquare waves or pulses, and triangle or saw tooth waves. Function generators can usually output signal frequencies of up to 100 kHz, with more expensive ones being capable of reaching up to 20 to 30 MHz [1].
