How to recover a backup from a MacOS (NetApp) network drive

Note

The username mentioned in the guide below refers to your 8-character username (e.g. j25rober) and password

  1. From the Mac OS X Finder, hit the Command+K keys simultaneously to bring up the Connect to Server window.

  2. Enter the path to the network drive you want to map:

    1. For your personal N:drive use this path: cifs://fileu.uwaterloo.ca/users$/~snapshot

    2. For a shared R:drive (departmental Shares), there is a slightly different path. In Science for example, the path would be: cifs://filed.uwaterloo.ca/science$/~snapshot

  3. Click Connect.

  4. Enter your Nexus login in the the format Nexus\username 8 character UWaterloo username (i.e. j25rober) and password.

  5. Click OK to mount the network drive.

  6. The drive will appear on your desktop and in the Finder window sidebar
