Task Description

  • A new carbon fiber drive-train will be manufactured by the end of Spring 2023.

  • Our drive-train uses the rocker-bogie linkage as our suspension system, but there isn’t much team documentation on how the current dimensions for the links were chosen.

  • Therefore, in the spirit of better documentation and improving on our current design, calculations & simulations should be done to justify our choices and ensure good performance of our drive-train.

Task Breakdown

  • Read through literature on optimization of rocker-bogie linkage
  • Define clear design goals/constraints for our drive-train
  • Perform kinematic/dynamic analysis & optimize our linkage design
  • Create detailed documentation on how the rocker-bogie linkage works, its kinematic characteristics, and how the optimization was performed

Prerequisites

  • This task has no prerequisites
