Profile

Profiles are used to provide information on University of Waterloo members.

Create a Profile

  1. From the administration bar, select Workbench, and then select My Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Content Types panel and select Add next to Profile.

  3. If a Contact exists for the person this Profile is created for, start typing the name of the contact in the Synchronize with contact field to select it. Filling out this field will auto-fill the Name, Name for sorting purposes, Affiliation, and Title, position, or description fields.

    • Note: If the Synchronize with contact field is filled out, the auto-filled fields cannot be edited unless the Synchronize with contact field is cleared.

  4. If a contact does not exist or does not need to be synced, enter the Name and the Name for sorting purposes with the format Last name, First name. 

  5. Insert an optional Listing page image by selecting Add media. This image will appear as a thumbnail on the Profiles listing page. You can only have one listing page image.

  6. Add content to the Summary field. This is a brief summary, you will enter the full details of the Profile when configuring the layout.

  7. Enter the Affiliation and Title, Position, or Description.                                                                           

  8. You have the option to include a Link to Additional Information, a Link to Personal Website or CV, and/or a Link to Contact. You can also include the Profile type(s) by typing out the group or area this profile belongs to.

  9. In the Meta tag information for social media sharing/search/etc. panel, the Description of content field is mandatory for the page to be published. Enter a brief and concise description of the profile. Additionally, you can add an optional Associated image. This image will be used as a thumbnail in social networks and other services.

  10. Select Save.

  11. Add any additional content to the profile page through the Layout tab. To learn how to create/edit content, review the WCMS 3 how-to documents.

  12. When you are ready to publish, select the drop-down menu next to Change to: and select Published.

  13. Select Save Layout.
