How to Set Up a New Laptop

  1. Select English (United States) for the language, Canada for the country, and US for the keyboard layout.

  1. When prompted to connect to a network, hold shift + F10 to open a command prompt. Type “start ms-cxh:localonly” and press enter to open a pop up for creating an account.

  1. Create a user for the PC with Username: PhrAdmin and Password(default): KtPlSmw22.

  1. When prompted to set security questions, enter purple, race car, and elephant, in that order. The question for each response does not matter.

  1. When prompted to start device registration, click next without filling anything in. For each privacy setting asking for apps to use location, find my device, send diagnostic data, inking data, and personalized offers, select “No” or “Required Only”.

 

  1. Check for updates in Dell Command Update* and Check for Updates (Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates).

  1. Ask Dylan to add the computer to NEXUS in order to download software center. You may have to keep your computer open overnight for software center apps to download.

  2. Add the new computer to the Asset Database and rename the computer accordingly by going to Settings → System → Rename.

  3. Lastly, install the appropriate Printers for the user, change printer settings to black and white, and you’re all set!
