Providing accommodations in Crowdmark

Providing accommodations in Crowdmark

Accommodations can be provided in Crowdmark, but the setup depends on how the assessment is created. Review the sections below to determine the appropriate workflow.

The assessment will be sent to the AccessAbility Office as part of the workflow. No action is required if the student requests an accommodation within the deadlines. Log into the Faculty module log-in or connect with AccessAbility Office for more information: https://uwaterloo.ca/accessability-services/.

Assigned (online) assessments

For assigned assessments (online), you can customize the due date, time to complete or lateness penalty. Review https://www.crowdmark.com/help/accommodation-options-for-assigned-assessments/ for more information on how to set them up.

Administered assessments (in‑person or paper‑based)

Administered assessments will have a few variations, but we recommend using the ‘proctored sessions’ workflow. This option allows you to separate and create a PDF containing exams for students who may require an accommodation.

  1. Create your administered assessment as usual.

  2. In the assessment, go to Settings and enable Proctor sessions

  3. A new Sessions menu will appear.

  4. Go to Sessions and click on Add session to add a date or date range. You’ll also have to input AccessAbility Office

In Invite a proctor, add yourself as the “proctor” for Crowdmark to email you the PDF. You’ll download and send the PDF to aas-proc@uwaterloo.ca. Do not forward the email to the AccessAbility Office because they will not have the permission to access the file.

  6. Depending on arrangement, the exam will be held for you to pick up or sent to W Print to be uploaded.

Alternative option

  1. Create your administered assessment.

    1. It may be easier if you create ‘auto-matched’ booklets (where students fill in their own name/ID), rather than ‘pre-matched’ booklets (where students names/IDs are already pre-filled).

  2. Split apart the PDF and send those exams to the AccessAbility Office.

  3. Depending on arrangement, the exam will be held for you to pick up or sent to W Print to be uploaded.
