Adding a second account to OneDrive for Windows 11

Step-by-step guide

  1. Locate the OneDrive icon 

  • Find the cloud icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen, near the clock). 

  • If you don’t see it, click the up arrow to show hidden icons. 

  1. Open OneDrive Settings 

  • Right-click the OneDrive icon. 

  • Select Settings from the context menu. 

  1. Right click icon > select Settings.

Alternative access (if icon is missing) 

  • Open File Explorer

  • In the left pane, right-click the OneDrive folder

  • Choose Settings from the menu that appears. 

  1. Add another account 

  • In the OneDrive Settings window, go to the Account tab. 

  • Click Add an account

  1. Sign in to the second account 

  • A new setup window will appear. 

  • Enter the email address and password for the second OneDrive account (e.g., personal or another work account). 

  • Follow the prompts to choose the folder location and sync preferences.

 5. Access both accounts 

  • Once added, you’ll see two separate OneDrive folders in File Explorer, each labeled by account type (e.g., “OneDrive – Personal” and “OneDrive – University of Waterloo”).
