Access to courses

Students Auditing courses

Students who are auditing a course must enroll through the Registrar's office. Once the student has successfully registered and become fees arranged access to the corresponding courses in LEARN will be granted automatically.

Students completing a deferred exams or an incomplete from a previous term

Students who require access to a LEARN course to complete an incomplete or deferred exam can be added to the original term of offer, a previous term of offer, or the current term of offer for the course based on the version of the course that makes the most sense for the student to prepare for their supplemental exam or incomplete. The instructor of the course they require access to must provide consent before we can proceed with granting access.

Instructor’s requesting access to another instructor’s course

Instructors who require access to another instructor’s course must obtain and provide the consent of the original instructor before LEARN help can provide the requested access.

Adding guests to your LEARN course

Instructors who would like a guest speaker to access their LEARN course must still ensure the guest has a WatIAM userid as this, as well as Duo 2FA, is required of all users who require access to LEARN. Your faculty computing department can assist with the sponsorship of the external user’s WatIAM account. After the WatIAM account is created and claimed, provide the guest’s WatIAM to learnhelp@uwaterloo.ca and request access. Please also indicate the role required for the guest.
