Account settings -outdated

Use these steps to update your Account settings, Notifications and to update your Profile in LEARN

To access your Account Settings, Notification settings, and your Profile click on your name in the top right hand corner of any Waterloo LEARN page.

Profile

Your Profile is where you can add personal information you would like to share with fellow Waterloo LEARN users. Note: all information included in your Profile will be visible to all users who have access to your course(s).

Profile Picture

If you choose to add a Profile Picture to your account, click on the Change Picture button. You will then be able to click on the Upload link to browse your computer for your photo. This picture will be visible to all users who have access to your course(s).

Account Settings

Account Settings will let you personalize Waterloo LEARN to suit your preferences.

Font Settings is where you can select the Font Size as well as view a preview of the settings you have chosen.

Dialog Setting will allow you to determine if secondary windows open in a Dialog box or as Pop-ups.

HTML Editor Settings will allow you to determine if the HTML Editor window opens by default in rich text editor view or in source view by checking that option.

Reading Content will allow you to determine how content is marked as read while you progress through the course. If you use an assistive technology such as a screen reader then you may wish to disable this feature by checking the box.

Video Settings will allow you to Optimize video presentation for programmatically-driven assistive technologies so videos can be detected.

Setting Locale & Language, Time Zone, and your Online Status can be set to your personal preferences. Note that Online Status will allow other users in your course to see when you are logged in. If you do not want other users to be able to see when you are online choose the option to Always appear offline.

Discussion Settings

The Discussions tab of the Account Settings allows you to set the default Discussion Settings for the system.

Here you can determine if your replies will include the original post and if the list of discussions should be visible.

Once you have selected your desired settings, click Save and Close or Save.

Email Settings

Email Options allows you to determine if you want to Include original message in email replies or Save a copy of outgoing messages in the Sent Mail folder.

Display options will allow you to further customize your personal email settings.

Once you have completed selecting the settings click Save and Close or Save.

Notifications settings

Notifications settings determine what you receive notifications for and how often. Contact Methods allows you to see the email address your notifications will be sent to and to register a Mobile Number if you prefer to receive text notifications instead of email notifications.

Note: Changing your email address to a non-uWaterloo email account will cause the notification to fail.

The Summary of Activity lets you determine How often you will receive notifications, Never or Daily.

Instant Notifications allows you to select how you will receive instant notifications, via Email or SMS. To receive SMS notifications you will need to register your Mobile Number first.

Customize Notifications allows you to determine the scope of notifications you will receive and the courses you want to exclude from notifications.

Once you are done updating your notifications click Save.

Note: Safari may not save the changes made to your notifications settings, if this is behaviour you experience, try modifying your Notifications settings using Firefox or Chrome instead.
