How to grade a video assignment

These steps will walk you through the steps required to grade a video assignment.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Navigate to the Video assignment in your course by selecting Submit and choosing Video assignment from the list of options.
  2. On the video assignment page, click the three dots to the right of the video assignment in the Actions column and choose Overview from the list of options.

  3. This will bring you to the Overview dashboard where you will see information relating to submissions. You will be able to see how many Learners have not viewed the assignment yet, how many learners have viewed the assignment, how many learners have work in progress, how many submissions need to be evaluated, how many have been evaluated and how many evaluations have been published.
  4. Beneath the dashboard you will see a list of your Learners and the status of their submissions. The first column is the Learner column and will list all the students in the course, the second column is the submission status, the third column is the Auto Analysis score (this is only available if enabled for the assignment and a video is submitted) and the grade column contains any grades provided by the instructor/TA or the system depending on the Grade Type selected for the assignment.
  5. To assess a submission, click on a learners name with a status of Needs Evaluation. This will take you to the student's submission where you can view the submission and see the auto analysis report, read any peer review comments made on the student's work and you can view any comments this student has provided to a peer and enter a grade.
  6. To enter a grade, click on the score box and enter a grade for this student.
  7. Choose to Save as Draft or Save and Publish. If you want to wait to publish grades until you have completed grading, choose the Save as Draft option and move to the next submissions.
  8. After you have completed all grading return to the overview and, when ready to publish the scores for all submissions, click on the Publish Scores button in the top right hand corner.
  9. Confirm the grades entered in the video assignment have passed back to the LEARN gradebook.
  10. If you have not generated your video assignment grade items yet see How Grades synch between Video Assignment and LEARN. The instructions for this begin at step 2.
