Managing Pop-up notifications
Browser pop-ups can be annoying but you can control which pop-ups you want to see (and which ones you don’t).
We recommend setting the default pop-up option to “Block” where possible.
System Pop-up Messages (in the Notification Area of Windows)
Most pop-ups appear at the top of the browser (see next section on how to manage these) but some may appear in the notification area of Windows (lower-right corner). These ‘system’ pop-up messages are often malicious and can be acquired by visiting a site that has content (or an ad) that pops up the message and sets it to re-occur.
These pop-ups can be removed using the Settings options in the Edge browser (see: Manage website notifications in Microsoft Edge).
In Edge, go to Settings and more in the upper right corner of your browser window.
Select Settings > Cookies and site permissions and select Notifications. Under Allow, you will find a list of websites that are currently sending you notifications.
Select the three dots next to the website from which you want to stop receiving notifications and select either Remove or Block.
Selecting Block stops the website from sending you notifications.
Selecting Remove stops notifications also, but if you visit this website in the future the site will ask if you want to allow notifications again.
