Enable Endpoint Security Protection on a Personal Device

In order to use Accuro on a personal device, you need to ensure some form of Endpoint Security Protection is turned on to keep your patient’s data safe.

Please see the instructions below for your device’s specific operating system.

Windows Security

  1. Click Start, search for Windows Security, and open the Windows Security app.

  2. Under Virus & threat protection, check each of the following:

    1. Current threats - click Scan options, choose Full scan, and click Scan now. This will ensure there are no existing threats on your device.

    2. Virus & threat protection settings – click Manage settings and toggle on the following:

      1. Real-time protection

      2. Dev Drive protection

      3. Cloud-delivered protection

      4. Automatic sample submission

      5. Tamper Protection

    3. Virus & threat protection updates – click Protection updates and click Check for updates to ensure they are up to date.

    4. Ransomware protection (optional, but recommended) – if you wish to prevent access to specific files/folders on your device:

      1. Click Manage ransomware protection.

      2. Toggle on Controlled folder access.

      3. Click Protected folders.

      4. Add/remove the folders you wish to protect.

  3. Under Firewall & network protection, ensure all 3 types of networks (domain, private, public) have Firewall turned on.

BitLocker

To ensure your device’s hard drive is encrypted to prevent access in case of theft, please turn on BitLocker by doing the following:

  1. Click Start and search for Manage BitLocker. Click the BitLocker control panel program to run it.

  2. In the window that opens, look for the Operating system drive usually named Windows (C:).

  3. It should tell you whether BitLocker is on or off. If it is off, please turn it on. This will encrypt your drive so that it cannot be accessed by unauthorized users.

Apple builds anti-malware technology directly into their operating system, so there is no need to activate anything further.
