How to Set up a Docking Station

  1. Connect the laptop to power using the power cord that came with the laptop and not via the docking station.

  2. Sign into the laptop using your bang account (e.g., !cw-tech) so you have Administrator access.

  3. Open a browser and go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca.

  4. Click the system model of the PC located under Which product can we help you with?. If the system cannot identify the PC, download the software to allow the system to do that. The button for this will also be located under Which product can we help you with?.

     

  5. Click Drivers & Downloads:

     

  6. Click Check for Updates:

     

  7. Install all urgent and critical updates as well as all drivers and software (Check for updates twice to ensure all updates are made).

  8. If the system does let you check for updates, click Manually find a specific driver for your [device name].

  9. Install the critical and urgent updates one at a time. If a download does not work, it is probably designed for an application which is not on your computer.

  10. Go back to the Dell Support main page: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca

  11. Type Dell Performance Dock – WD19DCS or Dell Dock – WD15 into the box (depending on which one you have) under Identify your product and click Search:

     

  12. Click Drivers & Downloads:

     

  13. Scroll down to the list of available downloads (there should be two for the WD19DCS and five for the WD15):

  14. Download and install the Ethernet Controller Driver first.

  15. If you are troubleshooting the Dell Dock WD15, install the Realtek USB Audio DCH Driver, Realtek USB Audio Legacy Driver and Realtek USB Audio Driver next.

  16. Then download and install the Firmware Update Utility.

  3. Open a browser and go to https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/

  4. Find the system model of the computer (e.g. Lenovo T14). This is usually found on the bottom/underside of the laptop.

  5. Click Browse Product:

     

  6. Click Laptops:

     

  7. Use the dropdown bars to choose the series and subseries of the laptop. This will re-direct to the product home page for the laptop.

  8. Click Driver’s & Software:

     

  9. Scan the computer for updates and install the updates.

     

  10. Go back to the Dell Support main page:

  11. Type Dell Performance Dock – WD19DCS or Dell Dock – WD15 into the box (depending on which one you have) under Identify your product and click Search:

  12. Click Drivers & Downloads:

     

  13. Scroll down to the list of available downloads (there should be two for the WD19DCS and five for the WD15):
