Mac inventory guide

The purpose of this article is to show step by step how to inventory new Mac machines to our inventory and Active Directory.

 Instructions

1. Once the Mac machines have been purchased through Apple Education reach out to your IST rep to have the serial numbers (provided in the PO or can be found on the box the device comes in) loaded into our Intune OU from Apple School Manager. Note: The devices will automatically be added to our Apple School Manager when purchased from Apple Education.

2. Once the machines have been added to Intune reach out to the IST general queue and provide the list of serial numbers to get device names/asset tags (current contact is Peter Schepers). Once these tags are added to Active Directory create an asset tag with our label maker and attach label to the top left hand side of the machine (when open, will be top left of keyboard).

3. Add each device to our Jira inventory (https://uwaterloo.atlassian.net/jira/assets/object-schema/35?typeId=1258&view=list).

4. Deploy machines as needed.
