Physical Set Up

Plug in your headsets into a USB port (Both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 are supported).

 Connecting to your Mac

  1. To activate the Dell headphones on your Mac, go to System Preferences.

2. Then click Sound.

3. In sound effects there is an option that says, “Play sound effects through”.

4. Click on the drop-down button and select DELL PRO STREO HEADSET UC15.

5. Click on the Output tab at the top of the sound screen.

6. There is an option to select a device for sound output. Select DELL PRO STREO HEADSET UC15.

7. Click the Input tab at the top of the sound screen.

8. There is an option to select a device for sound input. Select DELL PRO STREO HEADSET UC15.

9. Your headset is now connected to your Mac.

Microsoft Teams

  1. Open MS Teams and sign in.

2. Click on your profile picture which is in the top right corner of the MS Teams page and then click settings.

3. Under setting click “Devices” and set your audio devices to DELL PRO STREO HEADSET UC15.

In the Devices tab, there are audio devices. Click on the one that best suits

4. After setting your audio devices to DELL PRO STREO HEADSET UC15, you can make a test call by clicking the “make a test call” option underneath the microphone selection to ensure your headset and microphone are working properly.

Skype for Business

  1. Sign in with your WatIAM credentials.

  2. When the headset is plugged into your Mac and is connected to DELL PRO STREO HEADSET UC15 in system preferences, it should automatically connect to skype for business.

Cisco WebEx Meetings

  1. Sign in with your WatIAM credentials.

  2. When the headset is plugged into your Mac and is connected to DELL PRO STREO HEADSET UC15 in system preferences, it should automatically connect to Cisco WebEx Meetings.

How do I check if the system voice input and sound output are set to be this headset?

  1. Right click the Volume Adjustment icon on the right side of the Task Bar

  2. Select “Open Sound Settings”.

3. A new window will pop up and you should see your system voice input device and sound output device.

4. Under “Choose your output Device”, choose “Headset Earphone (DELL PRO STEREO HEADSET UC150)” as the input device.

5. Under “Choose your input device”, choose “Headset Microphone (DELL PRO STEREO HEADSET UC150)” as the output device.

6. Now the system voice input and sound output device have been set to this headset.

Microsoft Teams

Even if the system voice input and sound output device have been set to this headset, sometimes MS Teams will not change its input and output devices along with the system.

  1. Open MS Teams.

  2. Sign in with your MS account or your Organization account (In this case, you should use the credential ended with uwaterloo.ca).

  3. After successfully signing into MS Teams, click on your profile picture which is located on the top right of the MS Teams window.

  4. Select “Settings”.

5. A new window will pop up and on the left option bar, choose “Devices”.

6. Under “Speaker”, choose Headset Earphone (DELL PRO STEREO HEADSET UC150) to set as the output device for MS Teams.

7. Under “Microphone”, choose Headset Microphone (DELL PRO STEREO HEADSET UC150) to set as the input device for MS Teams.

8. The headset is now successfully set up for MS Teams and ready to be used.

It is strongly recommended to test your Speaker and Microphone after you finished the steps above:

  • You can test them by making a test call on MS Teams. (It is available on the same window where you choose your input and output device in MS Teams) 

  • Follow the instructions in the test call. If you can hear yourself, then the devices have been set up successfully.

Set Up for Skype for Business

In most cases, Skype will not set this headset to be the default input and output device, you will need to set it manually.

  1. Open Skype for Business.

  2. Sign in with your Skype account.

  3. After signing in, click on your profile picture which is located on the top left of the Skype window.

4. A window will show up, on the left option bar, choose “Audio Device

5. The headset is now successfully set up for Skype for Business and is ready to be used.

Set Up for Cisco WebEx Meetings (CWM)

If you have set this headset as the system input and output devices, CWM will follow the system input and outputs device automatically in most cases. You can always change the input and output devices for CWM when you are starting or joining a meeting.

  1. Open CWM.

  2. Sign in with your CWM account. (For most faculty staffs and students, use the WatIAM credential)

  3. When it asks “Which WebEx you want to see?”, enter “uwaterloo.webex.com”.

  4. A new window will pop up and ask you to use your WatIAM credentials to sign in.

  5. After signing in, when you are starting or joining a meeting, click on the small arrow besides “Mute” button.

6. Test the speaker and microphone before use:

7. The headset has been successfully set up for CWM and is ready to be used.

Appendix 

Things to notice:

  1. If you are using other headphones on your PC (such as a wireless headphone) already and plug in this Dell UC150 headset, the sound will not be outputted from this headset, you will need to manually choose this headset as the output device. 

  2. For this headset, the sound will be different if its microphone is currently in-use than when the microphone is not in-use.

  3. If you are currently using this headset for music/video, unplugging this headset will NOT pause the music/video in most cases.

  4. The “Phone” button that comes with this headset does NOT work unless you are using the softphone provided by Jabra Direct

Troubleshooting 

How do I know if the driver has been successfully installed? 

  1. Open File Explorer 

  2. Right click “This PC”  

  3. Select “Manage”  

  4. A new window will pop up, and on the option bar on the left, select “Device Manager”, this will give you the list for all the devices/drivers that are installed on your PC. 

5. On the list, find “Audio Inputs and Outputs”. 

If you can see: 

All the drivers for the headset have been successfully installed.

If those two devices do not show up, there was a problem while automatically installing the drivers. You will need to install the driver manually. How to install the driver manually can be found HERE.
