This service is provided by means of Qualtrics Insight Platform - a powerful enterprise-class survey system. 

Guidelines for use

The use of Qualtrics is restricted to academic or research purposes. Qualtrics may be used by all University of Waterloo employees and students. Commercial use of Qualtrics is prohibited and includes, without limitation, the use on behalf of other institutions or entities for compensation.

Before considering a non academic survey, please consult with Institutional Analysis and Planning (IAP).

How to request this service

To create your UWaterloo Qualtrics account:

  1. Go to https://uwaterloo.qualtrics.com  

  2. Log in with your 8-character UWaterloo username@uwaterloo.ca and your password

  3. Select ‘I don’t have a Qualtrics account’ (there is a legal notice you will need to accept to continue)

  4. Set the correct time zone for your Qualtrics account:

    1. Profile (icon-top right corner ) -> Account Settings -> User Settings -Change Time Zone ->select “(GMT -05:00) Eastern time (US & Canada)

Support for this service is available directly from Qualtrics.

To access Qualtrics support:

  1. When accessing the "contact support" option in any of Qualtrics support pages, you will need to login with your organizational id:

    1. Click on the University of Waterloo UW hyperlink below your username@uwaterloo.ca#uwaterloo

Users seeking training are encouraged to attend the Qualtrics Live Training Webinars and refer to the Qualtrics support pages.

Additional Resource:

The Statistical Consulting and Survey Research Unit (SCSRU) offers Qualtrics for-fee programming and data collection services to University of Waterloo faculty, staff and graduate students. Unfortunately, as a small cost-recovery unit, the SCSRU does not have the resources to provide free programming help. The SCSRU sometimes holds Qualtrics workshops for UWaterloo faculty, staff, and students.
