Web accessibility is important because it ensures that everyone, including people with disabilities, can access and interact with websites and digital content effectively, promoting inclusivity and equal access to information and services online.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) mandates that the University of Waterloo websites are accessible according to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA standards.
