What is the GMAT?

The GMAT is a standardized, computer-based exam administered by the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) and taken online at home or at a test centre. It assesses your problem-solving skills, critical reasoning, reading comprehension skills and data literacy skills.

What’s on it? What kinds of questions can I expect? How long does it take to complete?

It takes approximately two hours and 15 minutes to complete, including an optional ten-minute break.

To measure your knowledge and skills, it’s broken down into three sections:

  1. Quantitative Reasoning

  • 21 questions

  • 45 minutes to complete

  • Tests your problem solving skills

  1. Verbal Reasoning

  • 23 questions

  • 45 minutes to complete

  • Tests your critical reasoning and reading comprehension

  1. Data Insights

  • 20 questions

  • 45 minutes to complete

  • Tests your data literacy
