How to embed a Google map
Content maintainers can embed maps from Google Maps and Google My Maps within various content types.
Obtaining an embedded map URL in Google Maps
Navigate to: www.google.ca/maps
Enter the address of your location.
Select the Share button.
Select the Embed map tab and copy the URL.
Paste the URL in the Google maps embedded URL field in the properties box.
Remove unnecessary "iframe" information from URL. You only want the URL information contained within the opening and closing apostrophes. Do not include the apostrophes in the URL. The URL should start with: https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=
Obtaining an embedded map URL in Google My Maps
Navigate to: www.google.ca/mymaps
Select the Create a new map button.
Enter the address of your location.
Select the Share icon, and enter the name of the map.
Edit the Sharing settings access from Private to Public.
Change the Link Sharing option from Off to On (either Public or Anyone) and click Save.
From the Sharing settings box, click Done.
Open the menu beside the name of the map.
Select Embed on my site link.
Highlight and copy the URL information contained within the apostrophes.
Paste the URL in the Google My Maps embedded URL field in the properties box.
Embedding a Google Map/Google My Maps into the WCMS
Open a piece of content in which the map will be embedded, i.e., a web page.
Place the cursor where the map will be embedded and click the Embedded map icon in the editing toolbar.
Enter the information into the Embedded maps properties box.
Select the Embedded Map Type of either Google Maps or Google My Maps.
Enter the embedded map URL.
Enter the height of the map in pixels (recommend 480 pixels).
Save and Publish content.
