In order to be able to make edits to our Confluence space, your account must be granted a Confluence Cloud license by IST. Note that we only possess a limited quantity of these licenses (150) and so they should only be provisioned as necessary. The steps below outline the process to request a license through IST’s Jira Portal.
1 - Accessing the Jira request form
The Jira Service Portal for Software and Application access can be accessed using this link. If it does not work, likely due to their Jira configuration being changed again, use the steps below to reach the page manually
Manual Steps
Go to IST’s help and support contact page, found at this link.
At the bottom of the page, under “Other IT support options”, click on the “JIRA Service Desk Help Portal” button:
Once at the Jira service desk, click on the “Desktop and Mobile Computing” button
Select “Software & Applications” and the desired request for will pop up
2 - Submitting the Request Form
Under the “Summary” text box, enter in an adequate summary e.g. “Requesting the issue of a Confluence license”
Under the “Please select the topic you require assistance with” drop-down, select “Atlassian requests”
Under the “Request Participants” dropdown, enter in and select your name
Under “What product do you need help with?”, check the “Confluence Cloud” radio button
Under “Do you need to create a new space, or do you need help with an existing space?”, check the “Help with an existing space” radio button
Under the “Space Name” text box, enter in “Waterloo Rocketry”
Under the “What problems can we help solve?” text area, write down a summary of your request. Mention that you are requesting a license with write access for the Confluence space and provide your uwaterloo email. The template below has been used in the past with great success
Requesting the issue of a license for this email to get edit access to the Confluence space: <your-email-here>@uwaterloo.ca
Thanks
8. Click the “Send” button
IST will process your ticket in due time. Updates to it will be sent your uwaterloo email, so be sure to keep an eye on it. Once you have received a response to the ticket indicating that the license has been granted, confirm that you can make changes to the Confluence page and then reply to the ticket letting them know. They will close the ticket (or you could just do it yourself), and you will be good to go.
