Step 1: Cisco AnyConnect Client

If not already installed, install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client. The VPN client is located here: https://cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca/+CSCOE+/logon.html (Note that this site only works when not on campus)

Step 2: Connect VPN

NOTE: You cannot access your personal files or Shared Folders off campus without first connecting the VPN

  1. Open Cisco AnyConnect Client and choose “Connect”.

  2. If there is no site to connect to enter “cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca”.

  3. Log into the VPN using your WatIAM username and password

  4. In the 'Second Password' field, enter one of the following to authenticate for 2FA, then click OK.

    1. For Duo Mobile push: enter 'push'

    2. For Duo hardware token or Duo app: enter your 6-digit code

    3. For Duo Bypass code: enter your bypass code

    4. For Yubikey: enter the code generated by touching the Yubikey

Step 3: Connect/Map R Drive

The R drive give you access to the Shared Folders at Renison.

  1. Open the File Explorer (a shortcut for this is to press the Windows Key + E)

  2. Click on “This PC”

  3. At the top, under the “Computer” tab, select “Map network Drive”

  4. In the window that appears, fill in the following information:
    Drive Letter: “R”
    Folder: \\filed\renison$\
    Check off “Connect Using different credentials”

  5. Click Finish

  6. When the credential window pops up enter your WatIAM username and password as follows:
    Username: Nexus\WatIAMusername (Example: nexus\anwester)
    Password: WatIAM Password

  7. Click OK

Step 4: Connect/Map Personal N Drive

The N drive give you access to the Shared Folders at Renison.

  1. Open the File Explorer (a shortcut for this is to press the Windows Key + E)

  2. Click on “This PC”

  3. At the top, under the “Computer” tab, select “Map network Drive”

  4. In the window that appears, fill in the following information:
    Drive Letter: “N”
    Folder: \\renfileu\renhome$\WatIAM_ID (Example \\renfileu\renhome$\anwester)
    Check off “Connect Using different credentials”

  5. Click Finish

  6. When the credential window pops up enter your WatIAM username and password as follows:
    Username: Nexus\WatIAMusername (Example: nexus\anwester)
    Password: WatIAM Password

  7. Click OK
