If your document is final, you can delete all earlier versions and just keep the latest version. If there are many versions involved, the quickest route is to go to the Storage Metrics, click on “Documents” and drill down until you see the document. See steps below.

Access Storage Metrics

  1. Click on the cog wheel, top-right corner and select OneDrive settings.

  2. Select Site Settings > Site Collection Administration > Storage Metrics.

  3. Click Library > Version History > Version History or Delete Draft Versions.

  4. Select Site contents on the left menu pane.

  5. Select Site settings in the top-right corner.

    Navigate to the SharePoint site in your browser

  6. Click Settings (gear icon) at top right 

  7. Click on "Site Contents"

  8. Click on "Site settings"

  9. Under Site Collection Administration, select click on "Storage Metrics."

  10. You will see your total storage usage and available space on this page.

Clean up the Recycle Bin

Regularly empty the recycle bin to free up storage space as deleted items are moved to the recycle bin, where they continue to occupy storage space.
