Campus Wellness has TVs in various waiting areas and in the East/West nurses areas.

Waiting Areas

Currently there are 4 waiting areas with TVs:

  • Where students line up to be seen by a CSR in HS (HS 1004).

  • Where students wait after checking in for their appointment (HS ????).

  • Where students wait after checking in for their SCO appointment (HS ????).

  • Where students wait after checking in for their counselling appointment (NH ????)

Each waiting area TV has a mini computer attached to it for the purpose of running playing Spotify as background music and displaying a Google Slides slideshow and Spotify for music.

About the Slideshow

The slideshow is provided by the Waterloo UWaterloo Life team and is hosted in Google Slides.  They The UWaterloo Life team will submit a ticket to the Tech Team if a change has been made and to the slides and they need to be refreshed (see Refreshing the Slideshow below).

Each nurses area TV has a desktop computer attached to it for playing Spotify as background music and displaying the Accuro Scheduler module.

Starting Spotify and the Slideshow

People who work near the waiting room areas are tasked with starting the slideshow each morning by doing the following:

  1. Gather the TV remote and the wireless keyboard/touchpad.

  2. Turn on the wireless keyboard/touchpad, the TV, and the computer attached to it.

    1. If necessary, use the TV remote to select the PC so you can login to it.

  3. Use the wireless keyboard/touchpad to login to wake the computer and login with the Generic User account with password XXYYYY!! where XX is the building code (e.g., NH, HS) and YYYY is the room/area it is inand the appropriate password (see /wiki/spaces/CWKB/pages/44524995500).

  4. Spotify needs to be started first since the slideshow will take up the entire screen. Double-click the desktop shortcut to open Spotify.

  5. Login to Spotify with one of the following accounts based on which Open an appropriate playlist and play itthe appropriate account and password (see /wiki/spaces/CWKB/pages/44524995500).

  6. Open a playlist and play it. Please note that you can set up playlists from your own computer and don’t need to do this from the computer attached to the TV. Simply open Spotify on your computer and login with the appropriate account and password (see /wiki/spaces/CWKB/pages/44524995500).

  7. Double-click the desktop shortcut to open Google Slides. If necessary, login to Google with campus.wellness.communications@gmail.com and password Ftpq7Y&k.

  8. Open the appropriate slideshow and click Slideshow to play it.

  9. Move It should open to https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/181vCx6ngR0KVmtQM3quG6aXzAJLyVl-c/.

  10. Click Slideshow to start it and then move your mouse to the bottom-left corner and click the triple-dots to open the submenu.

  11. Set it to Loop and Every 10 seconds then click Play at the top. Wait 10 seconds to ensure it moves to the next slide.

  12. Return the remote and wireless keyboard/touchpad to a secure location.

How to Update a Presentation

Find the presentation you wish to update and make changes.  Note: Changes will not show on the TVs until the current slideshow is closed and re-opened.

Submit a ticket to the CW Tech Team at https://uwaterloo.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/118 and provide a due date for when the new slideshow should be updated.  If it is just a refresh of the current slideshow, provide that in the details.

Refreshing the Slideshow

If slides are changed by the UWaterloo Life team, they will submit a ticket to the Tech Team asking for the slides to be refreshed/updated.

The Tech Team will copy/paste the slides from the newest version of the slideshow into the Current slideshow and notify the CSRs/PFFs by email to ask that they close and re-open the slideshow

Send slides to appropriate staff so they can add them to their presentation software of choice.
