Use checkvpn.uwaterloo.ca to see your computer's VPN connection status.
Download the Cisco AnyConnect app from the App Store.
Once downloaded, add a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection by clicking on Connections.
Then click Add a new VPN Connection
Next, input the following details and click Save (insert 2nd screenshot attached to this form):
Description: leave blank
Server Address: cn-vpn.uwaterloo.caclick Save.
Choose Allow when asked if you would like to add VPN configurations
You will then be prompted to input your phone's password or Touch ID.
To connect to the VPN, you need to turn it on by clicking the AnyConnect VPN option
Input cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca for server address then hit save.
Select Allow when a pop up asks if you would like to add VPN configurations.
You will then be prompted to put in your phone passcode
You will be re-directed to the screen below. To connect to the VPN you need to switch the AnyConnect VPN section on (move it to the right).
A window will pop up. Enter your WatIAM credentials
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is required in order to connect to the VPN starting November 17, 2020. Read more about 2FA.
In the 'Second Password' or move the button to the right:Next, you will be asked to enter your UWaterloo credentials, following the below format: (Username is your 8-character username, e.g. j25rober)
Username: 8-character username
Password: passwordFor the Second Password field, enter one of the following (i.e. push, 6 digit code, bypass code, SMS, phone) then click OK.
For Duo Mobile push
: enter 'push'(app):
o Open your Duo app, select University of Waterloo, enter the code in the second password field [Recommended option], or
o Enter ‘push' or 'push1’ to send the prompt to your primary device, or
o Enter ‘push2’ to receive the prompt on a secondary device, ‘push3’ to receive the prompt on a tertiary device, etc.
For Duo hardware token
or Duo app: enter your 6-digit code
For Duo Bypass code: enter your bypass code
For SMS codes: enter ‘sms’; you will get a text message with 10 codes. Re-enter your password, and type the first code in the second password field.
For Yubikey: enter the code generated by touching the Yubikey
For Phone Call: enter 'phone'
o Enter ‘phone2’ to receive the prompt on a secondary device, ‘phone3’ to receive the prompt on a tertiary device, etc.
o If you are not receiving Duo phone calls, you may have a setting that is blocking the phone calls. Some possible solutions include adding the Duo phone number, (306) 900-4884, to your device whitelist, or if the service is blocking unknown callers, add the Duo phone number as a contact on the device.

Telus/Koodo: Call Control
Android: Block Unknown Callers
Call Control or Call Blocker app
Any anti-spam service
It should now be connected and the screen should look like this:
